Of course, after all the nasty things you can say about the special
effects, the Liberator is still cooler (and scarier) than anything you'll
find in Star Trek -- even the new ones.

Anyway, it's time to stop being annoying for a bit. I shouldn't really be
subscribed to this list from my work account, so I'm going to vanish again
for a couple of months. In the mean time, if anything interesting goes
down, like a Pages booze-up or an Up-North do, I'd be really, really
grateful if some nice person could drop me a note...

Cheerio, and thanks for putting up with me,

It's tonight isn't it? I can't wait.

The DJ I'm listening to just recommended people to watch it. Alas he didn't
mention B7.

The whole business about Blake's trial raises other questions,
not least the length the Federation was prepared to go to -
altering children's minds so they believe they were abused. But
it does beg the question of why didn't they also alter Blake's
mind so he believed he did abuse them. Secondly, I find it very
hard to belive that a lawyer familiar with the judicial system
was so naieve as to its corruption. As to other mentions, I agree
that it was strange Blake didn't come across more opposition
because of the charge. It was obviously still something thought
very poorly of judging by Raiker's taunt on the London. I agree
with Judith that it would have become tedious if it had turned
into a version of Branded in space, but ignoring it completely
after the London didn't gel.

The Lost in Space programme featuring Blake's 7 fans that was
due to go out tonight on BBC 2 was postponed at the last
minute because some stupid tennis match went on longer than
expected. I've rung BBC 2 to complain and they say they don't
know when it will be shown again but to ring on Monday to
find out. Can I ask all the other UK fans to ring and complain
about it being postponed, the reason being is that they are likely
to postpone it indefinitely unless they get a lot of flack.

I have just phoned the BBC on 0181 743 8000 to complain about the postponement
of the Blake's 7 Lost in Space episode in favour of yet more sport. They said
it would be shown next week. When asked why it couldn't just be shown a little
late they said 'live sport always takes precedence'. I said I thought there
was enough sport on television at the moment, and as far as I knew this
program was the only Blake's 7 related program produced by the BBC in the
twentieth anniversary year.

Incidentally, I notice that in July UK Gold are starting to show Blake's 7 on
both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Absolutely. Liberator is beautiful! I want a model, but the only kit I ever
saw made up into something too small. I want Liberator about a foot across so I
can hang her in the high part of the stairwell.

We'll miss you. You've saved me an awful lot of typing recently by managing to
say the things I'd normallly say, but saying them first and better.

Don't stay away too long. I'd actually managed to get started on the second
chapter of my long-suffering vampire novel.

I hate tennis!!!!

Judith

PS. I imagine it's anyone's guess as to when it will be shown now. Programmes
lost after sport overruns get tucked into all sorts of horrible corners.
Assuming they don't vanish into limbo alltogether.

PPS. If anyone finds out when it's actually being shown, please tell me.

Sorry, I did not realize that the 3 digit code was required to enter the
page where the Blakes 7 videos are available. Here is how you get to it:

www.columbiahouse.com/vl

Enter the 3 digit code from the magazine code or mailing. This code is PXQ.
Go to number 6. You will find the video there. Select the video to see an
"interesting" synopsis of the series, and to order online if you choose to.

Sorry for any confusion.

I rush home, get into the living room, triumphantly just in time, and
switch the TV on at 7:14pm to find there's a tennis match going on and
on and on and on. And it's not even Wimbledon.

And how come we get two popup messages telling us that Quantum Leaps
(not the Scott whatsit program) is postponed till next week and nothing,
that's diddly over squat, about Lost In Space?

Mutter, mutter, grumble.

I'll probably get to Reading tomorrow and find that the Hexagon have
cancelled Guards Guards in lieu of a badminton match.

Me too, please.

Steve, could you let us have the phone number to ring and complain. I
tried to find it on the Beeb's web site but that crashed my browser.

Thank heaven that the ending to Invasion Earth wasn't as feeble as I
thought it might be.

Yes, you have not read enough fanfic. All the characters have had their
pre-Liberator lives detailed - from childhood thru their nefarious
troublesome teen years, not to mention their various amorous affairs
with one another who they met in any number of unlikely coincidences.
When it comes to fanfic, no stone has been left unturned.

On the thread of recalling tales that dealt with Blake's crime of child
molestation: one story treated the subject seriously and did an
excellent job of showing how hard Blake fought against his inclinations
(which he knew were not good) in this direction. The story had some
rebel's child - frightened by a thunderstorm - come climb into the
safety of Big Blake's bed. Oh poor, sorely tempted Blake! (However, he
overreacted in the other direction and scared the young boy half to
death, throwing him out on the floor chasing him from the room). It was
by M. Fae Glasgow, in Oblaque V, I think.

Ah, but he had been reconditioned - and unlike impervious Vila, in
Travis' case it did take. He only refers to this once, and is unable to
express his feelings since the change: even his ability to express what
he had once been had been taken from him; supressed or lost.

However, I've never seen a fanfic story dealing with his new condition,
which I would expect to be a seething natural aggression and rage at
being turned into a puppy dog. No wonder he went bonkers. Imagine if he
could see down to his real self, yet be unable to express it; worse, to
have to watch himself be Servie's simpering lapdog.

And, of course, the conditioning included removal of his backbone
(that's why he's so much shorter in season 2)

I've been staying out of this, being
mostly abstentious myself - designer
herbalised soft drinks are my sin rather
than booze, so I honestly don't know
how most of these things taste. So I'll
stick to fizzy drinks...

Avon, being a computer nerd type,
would poison himself on that Jolt
rubbish. All that crankiness is simply
sugar and caffeine overload... Either
that or the Muhasi "Brain" blend to feed
those precious little grey cells.

>> Dayna as Pepsi,
>for those who think young

At least she has the good sense to
avoid Coke - that sticky sweetness is
better suited to Piri at her most
sugary. Tho' I've heard it's a generational
thing... Anyway, our amzonian vixen
definitely was a generation X grrl ahead
of her time - a real Girl Power go-getter.

Anyway, for Cally I'd suggest
Ambrosia (purified rainwater
with a dash of honey and healing
herbs.)

Tarrant - diet Coke.

Gan - creaming soda. Bright
red and super-sweet.

Blake - real brewed ginger beer,
full-bodied and sweet but with
complex depths.

Jenna - actually, Jenna reminds me of
one of the few boozes I do sip at
night-clubs, XLRate (not sure if I spelled
that right) - guarana and caffeine enhanced
alcoholic cola. Pure dark energy (for a long
night of dancing).

Pat suggested for Vila:
>lemonade: pastel, sweet on the surface but with a subtle tang of sour
>sarcasm

Hmm. Do you furriners drink Two Dogs?
(brewed alcoholic lemonade.) Just the right
long, cool, sweet, bitter, intoxicating draught
for when stocks of adrenaline-and-soma run
low.

Last but definitely not least, Soolin -
either extra-dry ginger ale or mineral
water, sparkling, clear, delicious and bitter.

number (of the BBC) so I can let them know ' they should not

0171 240 3456 is the only number in my phone book and it is
the world service number. I rang that number and it is one big
internal phone system between all the bits, so they put me
throughto the TV complaints desk.
