While on the subject of B7 type endings, what about Space: Above and Beyond,
and MANTIS. How would you guys rate their endingsin comparison to B7?

Some sad news caught on teletext this morning: Betty Marsden has died,
aged 79. Betty was best-known for the 1960s BBC radio comedy show 'Round
the Horne', but B7 fans will remember her as Verlis in 'Assassin'.

No Acorn could be seen inside him at Deliverance, and <Iforgethisname>
who had been one of model guys for most of the series didn't mention
it. I think he would have said something if there had been an actual
computer involved. Anyway, a computer to control Orac would've been
gross overkill, as all he was (apart from script and Peter Tuddenham)
was a bunch of blinking lights.

Anyone who's familiar with Forever Knight, and would like to get a laugh, go
to :

http://www.wolfenet.com/~emmabart/ForeverSpam/index.html

It's a collection of parodies written by a pro writer, Bill Thompson, in
response to the TONS of spam sent to the FK newsgroup.

Here's one of the non-FK pieces:

<<O, Spammer! My Spammer!

{with apologies to Walt Whitman--who would have hated spammers}

O Spammer! my Spammer! thy fearful deed is done!
This group has taken all your crap, you've had your little fun.
Your spam is here, your greed is clear, your presence is revolting.
And in my eyes you are a heel, so your actions I'm reporting.
 The netiquette you won't obey
Has roused me to a fury.
If I had my way you'd spend your days
 Confessing to a jury.

O Spammer! damned Spammer! drop dead and go to Hell!
Drop dead--for you the grave is dug--for you Death rings out its knell.
You know the hatred of this group is something you've been earning,
And if we ever hunt you down in a bonfire you'll be burning!
 Hear Spammer! damned spammer!
What I have planned for you!
I'm getting your account shut down
And there's nothing you can do!

My Spammer does not answer, his screen sits dark and still.
He's off the Net, he's in a mess, his actions were illegal.
I have tracked him to his lair, and found his e-mail address,
And sent it to his postmaster, who revoked his network access!
Exult, O group, and sing, O Net
 His spamming days are done!
And how much would you like to bet
 He isn't having fun?

(Okay, as poems go this bites. At least it bites spammers.)>>

Never seen MANTIS. S:AAB rocks.
To be less succinct, the ending of S:AAB compares favourably with the
end of Blake's 7, though of course it has a different tone, because
the whole show had a different tone. Ironic, rather than tragic.
Obvious comparison: they're dead, Jim. Well, half of them are
probably dead. And the rest are left in a completely different
situation. That's pretty much ending it with a bang, except that the
end of Blake's 7 has a bit more closure, IMHO.

Other comparisons: Avon spent all this time searching for Blake, only
to shoot him. West spent all this time looking for Kylen, only to
find that staying with his mates (to use the Aussie term) was more
important to him than staying with her.
Vila spent all his time being a coward, only to do something heroic at
the end. Wang started off his term being afraid that he would be
shouted at, and dies heroically, shouting.

Ironic, ain't it.

I've just gone and booked a ticket, arriving in Manchester on 4th November
(a Wednesday). This may make for a hectic last couple of weeks at work, but
I don't care any more. I can't see me getting that leave entitlement used
up, anyway ;-)
So that's ticket booked, entry papers sorted - only another 50 million
things to do now...

The gorgeous Mat Irvine, wearing rather strange clothes (part of the 70s

According to an ad and listings in August's Cable Guide the Sci-Fi Channel are
showing Babylon 5 from the beginning, starting 3rd August, every weeknight at 9
p.m.

Just the right timing for me, as I'm about to register for Redemption but have
never watched Babylon 5 (because everyone says you have to start at the
beginning!).

The ad says "Uncut - See it from the beginning for the first time" - I don't
know what this means.

          To All,
Dont know where Anne is from ( on this list, one has to considerate
of the fact that there are people from all over)but it was my
understanding that B5 was exclusively shown on TNT and TNT satellite.
You may want to check that out. And as far started at the beginning, I
got hooked during the middle of season two, so just jmp in- it is
totally cool.

I thought so too, at least for the US. TNT has been showing all of the
season 1-4 episodes over and over again, as well as Season 5 over again
(without showing the last five episodes until late October I think).
There must be mutiple showing in places outside the US since I did read
that in the UK the last 5 episodes will start in early August.
