I'd already been there for what would have been season 27...

Thank the Maker, to quote Threepio.

But still, Lighthill doesn't have a clue, and Darrow doesn't know much
about storytelling either (it's like handing the rights to Dr Who over to
Pip'n'Jane or something...)

Try the sevencyclopaedia on my site. WE're adding pictures to it gradually and
may have some of the ones you're looking for.

Could the fan who gave me the Guards Guards photos for the web site please drop
me a line?

The Avon club would love to have permission to use one of them in their
Millenium calendar.

LOL! Oddly enough, I have p. 23 of issue 50 of SFX framed and on my wall to

Having gloomed around about this for a considerable time and kept thinking
the worst possible thoughts in order to prepare myself, I now find the news
that Letts isn't involved is quite enough to make me feel positively
optimistic about the Movie.

I'm sure that if Paul Darrow was writing the screenplay then we'd have
heard, (he'd probably be quite proud of himself, so it would have been used
as a selling point). Lighthill isn't too bad, and you know, maybe they'll
come round to using Boucher

<prostrates self at foot of Boucher alter in corner of mind>

in the end anyway.

Does anyone know how far along this project is? I get the impression that
the screenplay isn't written yet, and that no-one has officially been
pinned to do it, so there's hope yet. And you know, Lighthill could
surprise us!

It can't be done - there's nothing that can redeem "Animals" in the minds
of the fans - the Q study proved that.

Talk about flogging a dead horse! Leave poor "Animals" to fester and stink
in a corner where it belongs, Una!

Well, Couch Potato amused me. By the way, who is Steve
Buscemi? It's impossible to picture him as Vila,
simply because I have no idea who he is. I don't much
like the idea of Christopher Walken as Avon (too much
menace and not enough, erm, appeal to the hormones),
but someone may.

Yes, that's right, we're back to "Who would you cast

I've always known him best as either Mr. Pink from Resevoir Dogs,
Antonio Banderas' friend in Desperado, or the bitter alcohol brother/best
man at one of the weddings in The Wedding Singer. From what
I've read (but I haven't had a chance to see these films) he's also been
in Fargo and Armageddon.

It's not a good choice IMO. His characters that I've seen) all tend to
have a seedy slimy kind of feel. I sincerely doubt he could pull off
anything remotely innocent looking like Michael Keating, which is
important for a master thief. They need to be able to get away. :)

Ew. Not to mention I think his speech patterns are just way off. Ah well.

I would highly reccomend checking out his performance in Con Air. He plays
a child molester, but gets reformed in the end. He is very calm and
innocent looking throughout. I would also recommend checking out The Big
Lebowski.

Maybe not, but he does have that coldness to him, especially in flicks like
The Prophacy.

Whoever played Morden in Babylon 5 would be a nice choice. Has the required
humor, darkness, and he's pretty handsome.

Ed Wasser. And I think he should play Carnell.

I downloaded 'who is Steve Buscemi' before I went to pick the kids up from
school, and I was idly composing an answer in my head as I went. Now I come
back and - bah! - Tegan and Reuben have said it better.

In particular Reuben said

Absolutely. One of my favourite films. Funnily enough I think Jeff Bridges
would make a better Vila than Buscemi. I think he could do cowardly/
sybaritic/ complex/ deceptive quite well, though physically he's more like
Blake.

Speak for your own hormones, woman! Have you never seen 'Pennies From
Heaven'? Hoohah! Hup hup hup! Lulu!

Mind you that was nearly 20 years ago -- but (recalling another thread from
some time ago) I thought all youse gals *preferred* old men. And having
just seen 'The Prophecy II' I can testify that even at 50-plus he is still
(for better or for worse) always prepared to don a pair of leather trousers
in the name of Art. What more could you ask of a potential Avon?

OK, only two weeks to go before the drink up at Pages Bar (that's
Saturday 12 June). Can people who are coming, please let me know? I'll
post another reminder here next weekend.

As usual, the bar will be open from 5 to 11pm (I'll get there about
5.30). If you haven't been before, let me know roughly what time you're
arriving and what you look like and we'll keep an eye out for you.

Pages Bar is on Page Street, London SW1P. Nearest tubes are Pimlico and
Westminster and railway stations Charing Cross, Victoria and Waterloo
are not far away. The No 88 bus, which you can pick up near Piccadilly
Circus, goes right past the door. The C10 bus also goes past the door
and you can get that at Victoria.
