There's still a market for zines. Look how many new ones were published in this
last year. They're listed somewhere on my web site. Several different
publishers too.

It's still possible to get submissions. Fire and Ice will probably have two
issues this year as there was so much material. The trick if you don't get
submissions out of the blue is to put in a lot of leg work.

Avon 14 is by Judith Seaman.

That's the best way to do it. It means you end up with stories you like (and
sometimes you get a wonderful one from a stranger as a bonus - I still remember
getting my first story from Nicky Barnard)

Chronicles. I think Andrew Williams is editing that now.

Kathryn Andersen likes to get B7 stuff for her multimedia zine Refractions.

From Sarahs list, a couple jumped out at me...

<All Creatures Great and Small
It Ain't Half Hot, Mum>

???!!!!???

I don't think I even want to *think* about the latter...but
thanks for the list, Sarah. I notice though, 'Its a Wonderful
Life' isnt there - I can't *believe* it hasnt been tried at
least once (the premise seems to have been copied just about everywhere
else).

Every year our local group has an outing to Winspit quarry where 'Games' was
filmed. The next trip will be 4th September. We meet up at Wareham station at
11.00 and make our way to the quarry for a water pistol fight.

If anyone fancies joining us, drop me a line. Be aware that a half hour walk is
involved, but there are some great sea views and some wonderful caves for
ambushes with supersoakers.

It was a shame to see that yet another B7 has folded - this time in
Australia. The web certainly has a lot of positive uses, but it is of
necessity transient and immediate. Zines has a much longer life and I
have several that I have kept for many years. I shall certainly look
into the cost involved in doing one. If anybody knows anything relevant
that could help then please feel free to get in touch.

I must admit that I am no great fan of crossovers, which seem to be very
popular on the list at the moment. Perhaps that is because I was no
great sci-fi fan before B7. Certainly in the 70's, most female
television characters spent most of their time being infuriating,
useless and generally tripping over or fainting all the time. I fail
to see how fainting whilst a huge monster is coming towards you is the
least bit useful - I'm sure I'd at least TRY to run away and I'm
completely sure I wouldn't trip during the first 100 yards! B7 changed
all that - not completely, but radically. Servalan was the best female
character I've ever seen and I'm sure that B7 was ground-breaking.
There would not have been the strong female characters, like those in
"Alien" for example, unless someone had started the trend.

Now, completely away from B7, I wonder if there are any US fans who
could help me with a favour. My 2 year old son is a huge fan of
"Blue's Clues", which is shown on cable over here with a different
presenter. There are CD-Rom's available in the US, according to the
web booksites, but they won't let me order them by credit card, because
of legal restrictions of selling them abroad. Is there anyone who has
the time to get them for me? I would, naturally, send payment and
postage first. I think the restrictions are probably because of the
different presenter. However, the show is not very popular here and I
doubt they will become available. I have a very distressed toddler and
any help would be appreciated!

Many thanks,

Susan Riaz
