Chamove) Date: Tue, 16 Mar 93 23:59:51 GMT Think the reason is that they are slow growing; they are easy to propagate by cuttings. Take 2 inch cutting in early Summer. Cut a slit lengthwise along the bottom half inch of the cutting, taking off a slice of the thin bark. Dip in hormone rooting powder and take off all but about 3 small leaves or cut larger leaves in half. Put into peat and coarse sand mix and cover with plastic film to keep humid. Put in light shade. You should get about 50% success and rooting in about 1.5 months. They will not grow much at all in the first year.
